About the Project
It all started with a dream.
In fall 2020, Union member Erin Holman dreamed about children suffering in freezing weather. Holman woke up with a calling and a vision for a new ministry that provides winter coats to children experiencing homelessness. She immediately turned to her church family to help make this dream a reality.
As a new ministry of Union Church, the first Coat Project was held in November 2020. To start, we set a goal of raising $12,000 to purchase 130 quality coats and boots.
Above and beyond the original goal, we raised over $15,000 and we bought 150 coats and nearly 100 pairs of boots!
Each year since, we have set a high goal and achieved it with the help of donors from the church and the community.
